SETTING PASSWORDS FOR PAGE ACCESS

Step 1: Open your site in the editor link.

Step 2: Go to the page where the download should live

Open the page where you want your the file to appear.

This could be:

  • a client portal page
  • a concierge page
  • a resources page
  • a download section

Step 3: Upload the file into the Media Manager

In the editor, open the content or media area and upload your file. The Media Manager is designed to store and manage files in one place.

Best practice:

  • Name the file clearly before uploading
  • Keep names client-friendly, like Welcome-Packet.pdf or Design-Questionnaire.docx

Step 4: Add a button, text link, or anchor for the download

Decide how you want clients to access the file.

Common options:

  • a button that says Download Welcome Packet
  • linked text such as Click here to download
  • a download area inside a resources section

If you want it to feel polished, a button is usually the easiest and clearest option.

Step 5: Link the button or text to the uploaded file

Click on the button or text element in the editor, then open the link settings.

From there:

  1. Choose the option to link to a file
  2. Select the uploaded file from your media/files area
  3. Save the link

Once connected, visitors can click and download the file directly.

Step 6: Save and publish

After the file is connected:

  • save your changes
  • publish the page

The website builder also supports draft-style page publishing controls, so make sure the page itself is publish-ready if you want clients to access it live.

Step 7: Test the file

Always test the link after publishing.

Check that:

  • the correct file opens
  • the file downloads properly
  • the button text is clear
  • the file is the final version

Helpful tips

  • Use PDFs when possible so formatting stays clean
  • Replace outdated files immediately so clients always get the newest version
  • Keep file names simple and professional
  • If each client gets a different file, label each one carefully so nothing gets mixed up
